With all the seminal livetronica acts we hold in high esteem (STS9, The New Deal, The Disco Biscuits, etc), the one nearest and dearest to our hearts is Particle. Their late-night sessions at festivals and after parties converted us whole hog the world of electronica. We were sold.

Imagine our delight when we discovered the first Particle studio recording to be released in TEN YEARS sitting in our inbox this morning. And not only is the band back in the studio, but they've got enough material for two full length albums, which we will patiently wait until 2015 to hear, when the act is also hitting the road extensively, playing more than 100 shows in the coming year.

"Get Your Ass Back To Mars" is a rip-roaring tune that gets Particle back to what they do best: taking technical wizardry to daring new heights on the back of drippin'-with-sweat ragers. It's a Particle party, and its return is what we've been waiting for.

Here's what synth-man extraordinaire Steve Molitz had to say about this wild new ride:

The title (and chorus) of the song, "Get Your Ass To Mars," is a Schwarzenegger line from one of my favorite Paul Verhoeven films, 'Total Recall.' I still have all my old cassette and VHS tapes from the '80s and '90s and one rainy day I watched a triple feature at my house: 'Total Recall,' 'The Untouchables,' and 'Enter The Dragon.' As I was watching, I pulled my some of my favorite quotes and samples right off the tapes in case I ever needed them. Around the same time, I was working on the beats and melodies for this song, and I had the idea that the high-intensity film quotes would fit perfectly with the explosive energy of this music. I dropped the quotes into the session, and got my ass to Mars!

"…get ready for a surpriiiiiiise!!"

We'll be bringing you much more Particle news, including tour dates and studio releases, and we couldn't be happier to do it. Get your ass ready.
