Govinda has been on an emotional rollercoaster throughout this past year. A little more than a year ago, Shane Madden lost one of his best friends, and the mother of his eldest daughter, Andrea Burden. Inspired by dreams of Burden, Madden produced Universal On Switch, a brooding, bass-driven album that fuses Eastern melodies with his Roma-style violin.

Classically trained in both the violin and composition, Madden has been influenced more by his familial roots in the Middle East and Europe than anything else. Joining major artists like Tipper and Random Rab on bills has blessed Govinda with a whole new fanbase, but recently, he once again faced a major setback when a "friend" of his with a substance abuse problem made off with his savings from the year--totaling nearly $10,000. Catch ill-esha, Loyal Divide, Eumatik, and others at this weekend's Broad Ripple Music Fest jam/electronica showcase, taking place from 4pm-3am at The Mousetrap in Indianapolis tomorrow (Oct. 15th). Tickets are only $5! More details at
