A member of the Hegemon collective, 21-year-old Kaylan Brown, better known as Skrux, has unleashed another monster in “Essence.” This Arlington, Texas native has been producing music since he was in his mid-teens, and since then, has developed a monumental following that has grown exponentially over the past few years.
His first single “You & Me” just reached over 2 million plays this summer, a staggering number for any musician. With support from artists such as Adventure Club and Krewella, as well as collaborating on tracks and touring with artists like Crywolf, 2015 has been a huge year for Skrux.
Skrux’s newest track, “Essence”, sticks true to his melodic bass roots, creating a tune full of emotion and beauty. The hypnotic vocals combined with the ever-evolving drums and synthesizers prove to show that Skrux is taking his music to the next level in the industry with every release. With ephemeral, emotive vibes, and clean, crisp bass defying any one particular genre, the aptly named “Essence” has already racked up tens of thousands of plays for the Hegemon crew, leaving us wondering when we can expect a full length album from this next level up-and-coming producer.
