The Chicago trio Krewella
is maturing faster than Gruyère
in an underground cave in Switzerland. But there's really nothing cheesy about them. Yasmine and Jahan Yousaf really are putting their all into their lyrics. You can really tell that the songwriting element is not an afterthought with these two lyrical weavers. Heartfelt without being mushy or corny, the words the pair belt out pack a punch that makes them honest and relatable. And then you get to Kris Trindl's production. Mercy. Moving from dnb to drumstep to dubstep, and then back up the ladder through the course of the track, the music moves with the words like a rudder steering a ship. It's kind of insane how fast this threesome is moving. They've bottled lightning, and show no signs of letting go. And we're pretty blown away.
