After years of waiting, we finally had the honor of putting one of our favorite producers up on our stage at The Untz Festival this summer. Chicago's Johnathan Thomas took to the ShadowTrix Music stage this past June in Mariposa, California to share his rowdy take on drum & bass.
Before the festival even, Thomas had already completed his latest EP, Warmth, which gets a release on Samsara Beats on August 27th. The EP, which will get a physical release on cassette, features two original tracks, a remix by French duo BNDT72, and one by Southern California's Danky.
We get to premiere Danky's remix of “Warmth” today, and it's a stellar display of her typical irreverent take on the genre. With a bit of a broken beat approach to DnB, Danky's moody, atmospherics and reverbed out vocal samples put a really fun spin on the source material. Both Danky and Johnathan Thomas are breaking ground in a genre on the rebound.
