hawk.CharlestheFirst fans had a lot more than turkey and stuffing to be thankful for last week. Charles Ingalls surprised fans with the release of pretty ass shipwreck, a 15-track album full of edits, sketches, and plenty of hip-hop ephemera for fans of his sound.

The more rap-focused project from Ingalls sometimes blurs the lines between CTF and hawk. sounds and styles, especially with tracks like “besides,”, “kava,” and “first year being rich,” but the playboi carti edits and the “plug walk” edit put it firmly in the latter project's wheelhouse.

As a sandbox for Ingalls to play around with and produce without the pressures associated with releasing under the CTF banner, hawk. certainly scratches an itch, but there are deeply meaningful songs and rhymes buried throughout the album just under the surface as evidenced by Ingalls' message to fans:

“I woke up today and decided it was time to part with some music, I hold these tracks very dear to me and ive honestly been the ringer over the course of writing them.”

hawk. will be making its debut appearance at The Untz Festival next summer in Browns Valley, California.
