HoboTech:
Hobotech is the creation of Producer/DJ Jon Margulies, a New York City
native who has been making music professionally since the age of 11.
Hobotech is the sound of ozark mountain dancehall, dubstep whomp
crashing into delta blues, dirty electro gospel, and badass bluegrass
crunk. Hobotech is a place where woody guthrie sings minimal techno
and tom waits wrecks subwoofers. It's contemporary music that nods to
a forgotten America, celebrating half-smoked cigars and steaming
cauldrons of stew.
Jon's 2010 schedule has included an appearance at Coachella, an
opening set for Bassnectar with collaborator Haj (Sub Swara), and an
afterparty for Montreal's Mutek festival. In New York, the Hobotech
Collective brings their unique sound to numerous underground events.
Originally trained as a vocalist and guitarist, Jon has worked with
some of the best musicians in the world in a dizzying array of styles.
His tracks have been released by Aurora Music and Cotopaxi, and his
full length album Too Big To Fail is available on custom USB
flashdrive and downloadable everywhere. Also of the most published
Ableton Live experts in the world, Jon teaches classes and workshops
around the country for cutting-edge music school Dubspot and is an
Adjunct Instructor at New York University.
