On Sunday under the Space Needle we will gather to celebrate the heavyweight pleasures of dubstep and beyond at Decibel in the Park, with a lineup of hard-hitters and wave-makers whose brute force bass and innovative sonic fusions have helped to ignite a worldwide community.



Plastician has been a powerful pioneer of the dubstep genre for years with his pirate radio shows, plush mixes and original productions, using both darkness and humor to make the dance floor pop. Bridging the gap between east London grime, south London dubstep and even Los Angeles bass with the popularCashmere Agency mixtape, Plastician is an integral facet of the ongoing dubstep movement.



Mary Anne Hobbs is the most important voice and supporter of bass music in the world. Her BBC Radio 1Experimental show has introduced countless listeners to avant-garde sounds from little-known artists, connecting hungry ears to talented beatsmiths across the globe. With access to the freshest dubplates in existence and a knack for crushing skulls, this music journalist and motorcycle queen will bring her unparalleled sonic influence to Seattle for a bath of bass domination.



One of America’s hottest names in dubstep is 12th Planet; true to his name this notorious producer flies perpendicular to the system with beats that slap you sideways, infusing his sets with a crackling energy and causing near-riots in clubs. Praveen plays electro-acoustica that intimately connects modern technology and a nostalgic worldliness, drawing inspiration from his family’s native India to create sounds that expand to touch each listener in a different and beautiful way.



Jimmy Hoffa is a local legend who has delighted dance floors of the Pacific Northwest hundreds and hundreds of times with his energetic spin on Chicago sounds, and Just One uses his eclectic taste in bass and ten years of experience behind the decks to deliver wide-ranging and rib-crushing sets. Joining the performers at Decibel in the Park is Eric Orr, a Bronx native and graffiti artist who will provide visual stimulation in the form of a live mural painting over both days of festivities. - Shilo Urban
