Oxford, Mississippi's Zoogma
is doing its utmost to break free of the pitfalls of their contemporaries in the livetronica game. While still fusing live instrumentals with synthetic productions and introducing elements of jazz, jam, prog, and trance, Zoogma manages to avoid sounding like elevator music--which is a common complaint of their peers.
On their latest release, “Ayers Rock,” the group demonstrates a marked evolution from their debut, Recreational Vehicles, and takes their immersive, melodic groove to new levels. It features emotional jazzy guitar rhythms, which fit perfectly with the drums and synths that together propel the song. The track combines multiple genres to create a unique feel that will allow the listener to drift on sonic waves, and entrance them from start to finish.
“WTF Is Zoogma Tour 2012” kicks off this weekend in South Carolina, January 27th in Columbia and January 28th in Charleston.
