RenrakuOut on the bleeding edge of the beats and bass scene, Renraku Global Media is shining a light in the deepest, darkest crevices to find relatively unknown acts eons ahead of where the current underground electronic scene is. On January 25th, the monolithic 20-track compilation, MELTDOWN, reaches the digital market, and many of these sound design geniuses will become a little less unknown.

Featuring breathtaking productions from Anti.Negative, Ankou, Dictate, Vhsceral, and so many more, MELTDOWN, has become my cheat sheet for finding what's next. I was especially pleased to discover {arsonist} and Kurve from among these many gems.

But one act has already broken through the beats circuit. Blair McGloiry has already found a home amongst some of our partner promoters and labels from his Los Angeles base. Zimbu is a name familiar to those on the touring circuit in our corner of the electronic music realm. The drummer turned beatsmith has demonstrated his range, and on “Plinth,” demonstrates his abilities amongst his sonic ilk, who by my estimation are Ivy Lab, Bleep Bloop, and Chee.

The entire compilation is full of exciting discoveries like this one. In just over a week, the treasure hunt begins.
