Moving is never easy. You get used to a place, know all the fun little insider info, the shortcuts--the lay of the land. But sometimes it's necessary. While it may be daunting, the result could open up a whole new world to you that's better than you could ever imagine.
With a month to go before Serenity Gathering, the festival organizers announced the event would be taking place at Joshua Tree Retreat Center in Joshua Tree, California. Hardly a downgrade in scenery, the new spot is one of the most beautiful and secluded parts of the country. With crisp desert air and an independence you could hardly find elsewhere, this captivating new location can now be considered home.
We're quite partial to Serenity Gathering. Consider it our sister festival. You will notice quite a few similarities between their lineup and ours. But where The Untz Festival took a right turn towards livetronica, Serenity focuses on the psychedelic, twisted, and trippier sounds of the underground. With a focus on emerging talent (just like us), you'll always find a new artist with a cutting-edge sound in every spot on the schedule. But with all those up-and-comers on the lineup, we're here to help you navigate that lineup to find your next favorite act.
Returning March 17-20, make sure you snag your festival passes at serenitygathering.com.
10. LabRat
A Phase 3 addition to The Untz Festival, this bass music superstar from northern California is a force to be reckoned with--we first became familiar with him years ago from his collab with Jamburglar, but he's gotten even better since then.
9. DubCOliNG
A veteran of the west coast bass scene, this glitch-hop guru will work all sorts of sounds into his wild sets. Don't sleep on this guy.
8. Moontribe
Between Treavor, Dela, and Brad Moontribe, the psy fans got their wish for Serenity. There will be all sorts of uptempo desert sounds filling the airwaves for this stacked block of acts.
