We first learned of Subduktion through his collabs with our good buddy Nathan Ramos a.k.a. Kozmo, whose own work with ShadowTrix Music led us down a dark path straight into the underground. Now it's Samuel Jhon's turn to wreck us with his own EP on STM, due out tomorrow (September 12).
Elysium gives us a number of different facets of Jhon's production, but we selected “Commonism” for premiere today, because it really packs a lot into its four minute and thirty-nine second frame. A glitch-hop underbelly provides the foundation for some experimental dubstep sounds. It's part and parcel what makes ShadowTrix such a reliable provider of west coast bass. The brand really does latch onto truly innovative music that blends groove with exploration.
A frequent collaborator with Subduktion, fellow STM alum Torbjørn provides a fancy remix of the tune, and we also get a reworking of the title track from Samurai Breaks & Zimbu.
