The Untz Festival 2017Justin Smith first jumped on our radar as a feisty teenager and one half of Bass Coma. Since the midwest producer was introduced into our lives, we saw him co-found ThazDope Records and rise to the top of the heap producing hair-raising dubstep as smith. Since his crew is rolling out to The Untz Festival in just a short couple of weeks, and he's one of the standard-bearers of the movement, we thought we'd shine a spotlight on the rising talent.

As someone who also has fond memories of ditching school, sparking up, and wasting plenty of afternoons with Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and the gang, the heavy bass of “D.B.Z.” is as nostalgic as it is rockin'. There's a certain something to Smith's sound that I just can't put my finger on, but he plays that fine line between intense and aggro so well. He takes you right to the edge, but never pushes you into the oblivion.

Catch smith. alongside Toadface, Mt. Analogue, Moniker, Alejo, Psydell, Eazybaked, Prophet, and more (as well as an extra special Yheti closing ceremony sunrise set) on the ThazDope Stage at The Untz Festival June 2-4 in beautiful Mariposa, California. These guys are the next generation of superstars.
