We're experiencing a southern renaissance of bass music. New Orleans' sfam linked up with Mississipi's own TVBOO, and the result is a serious speaker-rattler in “Blast.”
sfam's Jacob Hoerner and Michael Pearson are no strangers to UZ's Quality Goods Records label. They dropped their 5-track Expand EP on the outlet just over a year ago, and have also kicked out a hefty mix this year. Their sub-busting sound is right at home with fellow southerner TVBOO, who has made some serious strides of his own this year, and is now a NOLA-based act, himself.
“Mitch posted a video of a tune he started on his Instagram story that we thought was a really dope concept so we called him and said we were coming over to work on it and he was about it,” the sfam guys explained. “We're really good friends and live 10 minutes from each other so it's really easy to crank tunes out together within a few days.”
TVBOO added “sfam called me and said they were coming over to hop on the track I sent them a video of. Always down to make music with those dudes.”
