Red Marines Music Festival – June 18-20, 2010
The 6th Annual Red Marines Festival will take place on June 18th through June 20th. Pairing stimulating electronic acts with high degrees of social awareness and taking place on Indian Valley Reservoir, the Red Marines Music Festival will again feature world-class production and organization just a stone’s throw from
Count on the following artists to blast you off into another dimension at this year’s Red Marines Festival: psytrance forerunner Cosmosis, Willy Electronarcosis,
Tickets: Tickets for the 2010 Red Marines Music Festival can be found at www.redmarines.com/tickets. The second-tier ticket pricing level went into effect on May 1, so tickets are currently available for $60. There are no VIP packages for the festival.
Camping: Camping fees are included in the cost of the tickets and sites will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. All sites are primitive (i.e. no hook-ups, tables, grills) so come prepared and bring what you’ll need to survive the weekend. RVs are permitted on the site, however, you will need to power your RV with a generator if you would like to use appliances. All campers may begin entering the grounds at noon (12:00 P.M.) on Friday, June 18. Camping is within walking distance of the lake.
Stages & Vendors: For the weekend’s festivities, there will be one Main Stage adorned handsomely with local artistic enhancements. Dr. Paradise will again be displaying his jaw-dropping visual presentations on the big screens behind the stage, so prepare for aural and visual stimulation abound. And for those of you who want to pack heavy on the liquids and light on the food, Spyros, Babba’s Grill and Mediterranean Delights will be among the numerous food vendors dispensing everything from ‘heavy artillery BBQ to vegetarian’: falafel, kabobs, fries, hummus, tsatsiki, salads, pita bread, nana tea and a cornucopia of organically-grown vegetables will satiate the palates of those with the hunger bug.
Facilities: Festival organizers have made arrangements to provide portable shower facilities for use by festival goers, and Porta-Potties will be set up throughout the site. Although there is no free access to potable water, ice and water will be distributed by vendors at the festival. It’s always wise to bring at least a couple of gallons of water to sustain yourself.
Activities: Once again, the Red Marines Festival organizers have booked a handful of visual art installations for attendees’ visual pleasure; this year’s highlights include: Dr. Paradise, the only visual artist in the world to use The Paradise Metaverse, a Quantum Artform Generator which is custom built and “creates artificially intelligent visuals for spontaneous ascension.” Also on display will be Live Art by Mikey Elliott, a Bay Area visual artist who will bring to life his visually-stimulating masterpieces to life before your very eyes. Leading a yogic healing workshop will be Dmitry Vulfovich, who offers a multicultural perspective of techniques which emphasize the individual’s relationship with nature as a healing element. Be sure to take some time to appreciate the creative installations along with the natural flora and fauna surrounding the Indian Valley Reservoir; bicyclists, hikers, swimmers and nature enthusiasts alike are drawn to the many recreational possibilities offered by the area, so take advantage!
Natural Surroundings:
Sustainability & Social Awareness: The Red Marines Festival is a great supporter of the VA Hospital system as well as of Mission Green Earth. With the involvement of local communities, the festival integrates and promotes social awareness of world causes, sustainable living and support for VA Hospitals. Donations for the VA system are accepted both online at the Red Marines’ homepage as well as at the festival itself.
