Fresh off the Creature Carnival tour with Beats Antique, Shpongle, and Emancipator, rhymespitter and psychedelic ringleader Lafa Taylor headed right into the studio to crank out another wildly innovative tune with Bohemian Dub outfit Medium Troy.
The Eugene, OR-based trio of producers collaborated with the Bay Area barker previously on another premiere from TheUntz.com, the ultimate festival anthem "All My Friends Are Freaks," which made it so much easier for us to explain to others exactly how we spend our weekends between April and October. "Here uhh... just press play, and everything will become clear..."
Now this winning combo has dipped into the electro-swing realm, with some hot jazz gone bassy. "High Off Instrumentals" is a little smokier, and a little hazier, and quite provocative, the dripping bass plays off frenetic clarinet and Django licks. It's the 1920's meets the 2020's. Taylor's vocals go silky on this one. We love the instrumentals, as much as she does, but we're getting high off Lafa's rhymes, as well.
Now let's see some live dates, gentlemen.
