Martin Stääf officially dropped his first Wakaan release this week. Liquid Stranger has been working to develop his new label in the midst of a busy touring schedule, and the Tales of Wakaan compilation snuck out in between all these sold out dates on the road.
Featuring some of the hottest acts in the underground bass scene like Desert Dwellers, Dalton Richmond, Big Chocolate, Adham Shaikh, An-ten-nae, and more, the Stranger's eye is certainly on originality and production quality versus trend-hopping.
Leading off this compilation is a hip little chiller from BC's Perkulat0r, who has impressed us with his sounds over the past few years. The young prodigy has risen through the ranks of the bass scene and found himself on quite a few festival bills with his chilled out, 808 sound. It's a flashy sound, but there's substance, too, if you dig a little deeper. Much can be said about each track on the compilaton, which bounces around quite a bit stylistically.
You can catch Liquid Stranger on Rise of Wakaan Tour right now, with fellow compilation contributors Space Jesus and Au5. They'll be in Massachusetts, Vermont, and upstate New York over the next few days before hopping over into the midwest for a thick run of shows in the middle of the country.
