A new sax-ified electro act is pouncing on the scene. Indianapolis-based Cosby Sweater (yeah, it is the greatest band name) fuses the worlds of high-powered bass music with underground hip-hop sensibilities, and the sultry sounds of saxomophone. Its three members are veterans to the live music scene, though they might be more closely associated with the jam community. Dave Embry, a.k.a. DJ Embryo is best known as one half of Embryonic Fluid  with keys maniac Ashton Kleemann (Eumatik). He brings his DJ and production experience to the table, along with a healthy dose of bass. Nick Gerlach is the sax star of the Midwest's favorite sensual and funky all-stars, The Twin Cats, who have been dazzling audiences and making fans of major players in the biz (most notably Umphrey's McGee) for years. Gerlach has been blowing for nigh on a decade, now, and it's time for him to step out even further into the spotlight. Rounding out the trio on drums is local legend Richard "Sleepy" Floyd who likes moonlight walks on the beach and Sunday naps. He's also providing some solid backup in the live setting as evidenced by the live clip below.

Younger than the mayo in your fridge, Cosby Sweater has already been snapped up by the sharp eyes (and ears) over at Madison House Inc. Sensing much potential in this high-flying project, the booking and publicity powerhouse has added the Sweater to their roster that already includes Bassnectar, EOTO, Rubblebucket, String Cheese, and most every cool act on the festival scene today. They've also nabbed Dan Rucinski (Digital Tape Machine) and his Igloo Agency for management. Smooth move.

Speaking of festivals and such, many announcements regarding impending dates are forthcoming, so keep a lookout for the Coz, because he's coming. And he looks damn good.
