Nobody told Martin Stääf “You've gotta keep some in the tank, bud,” so clearly he just floored it on this Kai Wachi “DEMONS” remix for Kannibalen Records, and the rest is audio history. Sure there were remixes from Black Tiger Sex Machine, SQUNTO, and more on the package that just dropped yesterday, but we all know what the real standout was.
The latest Liquid Stranger remix is a monster clinic in bass production, these days. His “free form bass” aesthetic really shines through in situations like this where I'm at a bit of a loss to pigeon hole the track—which is definitely a good thing. Mixing elements of dubstep and trap, the result is a tour de force of passionate heaviness that still retains its clarity. That's one thing you can always count on in Stääf's studio work; it's always going to be clean no matter how dirty it gets.
Speaking of dirty, Liquid Stranger is bringing half the Wakaan clan to The Untz Festival in Mariposa, California this June 2-4, and while he's busy headlining alongside Space Jesus, Shlump, and the whole crew, the next generation of bass superstars waiting for their chance to jump on his label will be waiting in the wings ready to knock the label head's socks off through his shoes. Make sure to snag your tickets at www.theuntzfestival.com before they're gone!
