Well, boys and girls, we hope you’re ready, because today Slovenian-born producer Gramatik, has released a free, 6-song album, solely for our listening pleasure. A veteran of sonic construction, the DJ started dabbling in classical piano, rock, funk, R&B, and everything in between during his elementary school years, and has continued evolving.

Gramatik’s forte is hip-hop, which is definitive of his style for those who are unfamiliar with his work, but this album is yet another deviation from the norm, in as much Gramatik himself stated that, “…to those who know me only by my chilled out hip-hop beatz: don’t be scared when you hear this EP, my true fans know that I’m nothing if not versatile. Good music is larger than one genre so just open your mind, absorb the vibes and you’ll be versatile too!”

As soon as the second track “Flavors” dropped, this was more than evident. Gramatik has seemed to take his incredible, already diverse style, and just go crazy on the heavy bass & glitch work, and it’s nothing short of brilliant. But, don’t worry you long-time Gramatik fans, his hip-hop blood still runs deep. On “Solidified,” Gramatik combines rapped lyrics and chops them up with technically astounding glitch work, and, as usual, has an intense, yet brilliantly constructed instrumental to back it all up.

With a beautiful balance of classical and futuristic in harmony, Gramatik’s music is easy to listen to, dance to, or just absolutely rage to, especially seeing as he has clearly injected more of a dubstep-feel into this album, and did an excellent job at it, to say the least. Overall, it’s not an overpowering use of bass, as some people still tend to shy away from huge wobbles and heavy glitches, but it works incredibly well to diversify not only his musical style, but his fan base as well. So, music fans, take a note from the man himself: just sit back, open your mind, and let your ears absorb the vibes!
