Free SliceIf there's one song I can hear anyway you 'slice' it--cover, remix, deconstructed minimalist thrash punk--it's Lionel Richie's "All Night Long." I love when my favorite artists cover it live, hell, I love when my garbage man sings it at karaoke night down the street. There's no cheese, there's no pretention; it's just a damn good song.

Fresh young production duo Free Slice served it for us to premiere today. Transplants in the LA scene from DC, these guys put a deep house spin on the classic track, and brought along Jordon Ramz to handle vocal duty. Beyond ably, I might add. The tropical vibes pluck us right from the depths of winter and put us on the beach with a fruity drink in our hands.

Free Slice chose to cover the tune in honor of Richie, who will be awarded MusiCares 2016 Person of the Year during Grammy Week on Saturday. The star-studded event will honor the man who has not only won multiple Grammys, but has also been a huge charitable force in the industry. MusiCares provides a safety net for members of the industry who have fallen on hard times. The award will be given out two days before the Grammys air on Monday, Feburary 15th.
