In case you haven’t heard yet, Exmag is the lowtemp, future-funk collaboration between producers Denis Jasarevic (aka: Gramatik), Eric Mendelson, Tyler Dondero (aka: SuperNicer), Mike Iannatto, and ILLUMNTR.  The future-soul power team recently dropped full-length album Proportions that will make you feel like you’ve shot through a funkadelic time warp back to the groovy sounds of the 70’s, juxtaposed smoothly with cutting-edge electronic elements. The full 18-track album makes for over an hour of that smooth, sexy and soulful listening experience for which Exmag is becoming notorious.

It’s hard to pick favorites in a buffet full of 18 delicious livetronica tracks, but I was able to narrow it down to five. “NuFunk Odyssey” is truly a future-funk anthem, rich with 70’s flavor and spiced up with electronic elements in nearly 8 minutes of pure tantalizingly funky deliciousness.

“Give It To Me Right” will make you long for a cute dance partner on your arm and a disco ball above your head, with its synthy vocals and disco vibe. “Persian Temptress” sounds just like exotic seduction, with knee-deep funk and electric guitar whomps for days.

“#SuperNicer” dives deepest into electronic groove, with its synthy bass growl and an electro-soul beat.  “Juke” brings a hip-hop vibe to the album with Kianu’s flows and Gibbz vocals; it’s a carefree track that you definitely want cranked up at your party.

Give Proportions a listen and allow your ears to be seduced by the smooth and soulful sounds. This sexy album is guaranteed to help a few people get lucky; you don’t have to thank us later. Just name the resulting offspring after us.
