Favorite ThisEarth Harp in semi-finals of NBC's 'America's Got Talent'; Collaboration with The Human Experience

William Close is an installation artist and musician that has developed over 100 new types of musical instruments.
He is the inventor of the majestic stringed instrument Earth Harp which has been installed around the world.

Close’s work explores the connection between architecture and music. Inspired by the quote “architecture is frozen music”, Close creates musical installations that use the architecture as part of the instrument. He has developed two Symphonic houses working with architects to build the musical instruments into the architecture. The Houses are musical instruments.

William’s unique talent and surreal performances has led him to the Semi-Finals of NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent.’
Tune in and vote TONIGHT as he competes for the title and witness musical bliss at it’s highest level.

The Earth Harp is the largest stringed instrument on the planet. It was developed by William Close in 1999. The body of the instrument rests on the stage and the strings travel out over the audience attaching to the back of the theater, turning the theater / concert hall, architecture and landscape into the instrument. The giant long strings are played with violin rosin covered gloves. The player runs their hands along the strings creating beautiful cello like tones. The reason it is titled the Earth Harp is do to the fact that the first time it was installed, the strings ran from one side of a valley 1000 ft across to the other side, turning the Earth / landscape into a giant harp.

Recently, Close has collaborated with The Human Experience (David Block). This is the first selection of songs by Close and Block.

The 8 song album is a full journey through the sounds of the Earth Harp.

"I recorded over 4 hours of William's Earth Harp. With the base material I choose my favorite loops to create the full compositions. I also wanted to showcase William's incredible ability to channel free form music with the Earth Harp so there are 3 compositions which have not been edited at all (except for some post production effects and EQ's).” -David Block

We invite you on a sonic adventure through sounds never heard before and hope the vibrations of the Earth Harp open your heart and fill your life with inspiration and love.

It is our sincere pleasure to present to you Earth Harp Sessions Vol. 1’
