SONIC BLOOM 2016The initial lineup for SONIC BLOOM is finally here! With the exact location still TBA for the June 16-19 festival hitting Colorado this summer solstice weekend, fans are already swooning over the lineup for the boutique electronic music festival that has maintained its status as a breeding ground for exciting and upcoming artists for more than a decade now.

Shortly after its 2015 sold out event, Bloom announced the godfather of glitch-hop, Dave Tipper, would be returning to headline the festival for two nights in 2016. Joining him is fellow English sensation Bonobo, who has amassed a gorgeous back catalog of instrumental, downtempo, hip-hop collages, and will be performing a DJ set one of the nights of the 4-night blowout. Joining the two Brits is Aussie Opiuo with his live project, The Opiuo Band, which has been touring down under and in Europe this past fall and winter with a fairly solid lineup. We get sneak peeks as to the incarnation of this particular lineup's headliners with the announcement of The Russ Liquid Test, Russell Scott's new band (Russ Liquid has also been known to perform with Opiuo), and the addition of Phadroid, which features Android Jones, and likely means he'll be producing visuals alongside Tipper for at least one of this headlining nights.

Joining these headliners are Michal Menert & The Pretty Fantastics, Nightmares on Wax, Justin Martin, Giraffage, Com Truise, Quixotic, CloZee, Space Jesus, Living Light, Deya Dova, Dixon's Violin, and Soohan, among others. Originally instituted as Zilla's festival, the trio of Jamie Janover, Michael Travis, and Aaron Holstein are, of course, on the bill, along with the outfit's various off-shoots, including Janover & reSunator, EOTO, VibeSquad, and DJ sets from Travis and his EOTO compatriot Jason Hann (as Prophet Massive).

In a clear evolution of the festival's dedication to what's next, house music comes back in a big way with the aforementioned Justin Martin of Dirtybird fame and mushroom jazz king Mark Farina. Future bass makes an instant impact on the event in the form of SteLouse, Louis The Child, and Toy Box. We also see much more up-and-coming livetronica with Dynohunter and Evanoff.

Due to the early announce of Tipper's headlining nights, Early Bloomers flew off the shelves and sold out at four different levels. Now, Tier 1 tickets are on-sale for GA's at $199, and there are enticing VIP levels, as well. Visit sonicbloomfestival.com to grab your passes now!
