BoHemianToday we bring to you a taste of a brand new talent out of—you guessed it—central Florida. Seems like all the hot young bass talent is coming from the southeast these days. Samuel James, better known to bass heads as BoHemian, has his debut EP, SmOke & MiRrors, forthcoming on ThazDope Records.

Today he releases the title track off of the 4 track EP slated for an April 19 drop date. With influences ranging from Pink Floyd, Rush, Shpongle, Cheb i Sabbah, Tipper, The Orb, Noisia, the entirety of dirty southern hip-hop as a whole, Astrix, Truth, and Kalya Scintilla, all of these elements can be easily heard within this young producer's sound.

James has taken the time to craft his music, build the package properly, and execute the release to make sure it gets pumped into the earholes of all of our favorite weirdos.  For instance, he commissioned the amazing Psybe Visuals whose work you may recognize from several staple names (Space Jesus, Freddy Todd, etc) album artwork. Taking his art and craft this seriously, BoHemian makes his initial mark to plant a seed that will spread deep roots within the underground bass community.

“Pulling through every mechanical crescendo, to the deepest battle drum, is a familiar energy that we all share,” James says. “You’ve been here before, you’ve heard these sounds, just never together like this. I am you and you are me, now lets listen and create together.”

His title track, “Smoke and Mirrors,” is a journey through space and time. He takes ancient sounds and melds them into a future sonic soundscape that delivers multiple flavors and tempo changes. With this being just the first taste of the new talent, we are very excited to hear what comes out next month, just in time for the ThazDope Records 4 year anniversary.

He will be joining the lineup in Miami, Florida on March 24th at Massive Ideas & ThazDope Records present Secret Stash 2.0, which sold out before doors opened last year! If you are in Miami for the WMC, make sure not to miss this event.
