In recent national news, a group of 808’s filed a class-action lawsuit after being brutally battered by a burgeoning genre known as “trap.” The 808’s claim they’ve been misused by these artists, yet many supporters of the movement were quoted as saying “Run the trap” and “Damn son, where’d you find this?” when queried about the issue. We’ll have more on this breaking story after a quick word from our sponsors.

10. Three Loco feat. Diplo - "We Are Llama's"
Three loco feat diplo - Best Trap Songs of 2012
Andy Milonakis, Dirt Nasty, and RiFF RaFF comprise Three Loco, reminding us of a similarly irreverent white rapping trio from Brooklyn who liked to party. While we’re still a bit bitter about State Farm removing the ubiquitous “We are farmers” sample, the track still bumps all the same. It’s also the only place where you can hear Diplo spit hot bars about seals and broccoli.

9. Cascada - Every Time We Touch (CRNKN Middle-$kool Remix)
CRNKN - Best Trap Songs of 2012
After trap started getting major attention, the big bosses of the genre started remixing all those old-school tracks that needed a bit of touching up. CRNKN’s remix of “Every Time We Touch” is like senior prom all over again, without the acne, shitty dancing, and inability to hold your alcohol. Cascada’s overly poppy vocals aren’t present, so don’t be afraid to sing along.

8. Dillon Francis - Masta Blasta (THE REBIRTH)
Dillon Francis - Best Trap Songs of 2012
While Barack Obama and Mitt Romney spent their year campaigning across the country, Mr. Dillon Francis worked his ass off to increase DJ Awareness. After traveling through every state and across the pond, he’s helped the world understand that “Levels” is the greatest song ever created, and how people in Alaska get high off moose nipples AKA “The Tight Shit.”

7. Foreign Beggars - Goon Bags [ƱZ Remix]
Foreign Beggars + UZ - Best Trap Songs of 2012
His name is ︻╦╤─ ƱZ ─╤╦︻, but people close to him drop the stylized guns and simply call him ƱZ. While we’re not too sure what his actual name is or what he looks like, it’s become apparent the trap community is digging what he’s putting down. Guns, boobies, and bass—just what the people wanted.

6. Baauer - Harlem Shake
Baauer - Best Trap Songs of 2012
When the power of “Harlem Shake” strikes your innermost loins, there’s no telling what your body will do. You simply can’t be held responsible after it’s pumped up drum slaps enter your eardrums, and fuel each function of your brain. Baauer helped the world open up to trap music with this venomous banger, and your going to like the way “Harlem Shake” makes you feel, we guarantee it.
