On November 6th, the electronic and world music scenes lost a pillar of the community. Cheb i Sabbah had been battling cancer for the past two years, long outlasting any medical prognoses. He passed at the beginning of the month, leaving a huge whole in the sacred bass sphere he continues to influence. From breakbeats, to psytrance, to downtempo, there are few cliques Chebiji didn't have a huge hand in shaping. He was 66.
Bassnectar and other artists feeling the pain of the loss are working with Six Degrees Records to support his two children and three grandchildren during their time of need. Enjoy this revamped remix from Lorin Ashton of "Alker Illa Doffor" and consider donating to the cause. Chances are your favorite producer was in some way touched by Cheb i Sabbah, and we'd like to do what we can to repay him that debt.
