The Legendary Eighteenth Street Lounge record label SHOWCASE debuts at Public Works in San Francisco featuring ROB GARZA DJ set (Thievery Corporation), Ancient Astronauts (ESL, Germany), AFROLICIOUS (with DJ's Senor Oz and the Pleasuremaker) and J BOOGIE (Om records, Dubtronic Science). The Oddjob room will be hosted by San Francisco's own legendary outdoor party crew: SUNSET/PACIFIC SOUND with DJ's SOLAR, GALEN & J-BIRD.

A MASSIVE and ECLECTIC 2-Room Lineup that promises straight up Quality.

ESL Music came onto the scene in 1996 initially established to deliver the sounds of Thievery Corporation to the world. Founders Rob Garza and Eric Hilton shared a common vision of releasing music they were passionate about, and sat outside the typical record label model. Fast forward over 15 years and ESL Music has become one of the world’s leading independent music labels. With the rise of Thievery Corporation and a blend of unique, fresh, original, and highly talented artists on the roster, ESL Music has continued to set a standard of quality that fans have been able to rely on as the label nears 200 releases.

Borrowing from the classically sensual and blunted sounds of their favorite Brazilian bossa nova, Jamaican dub reggae, and vintage Italian film soundtracks Thievery Corporation forged into new sonic territory that would become the distinct outernational sound of ESL Music.

With respect to the ancient and the classic, ESL keeps pushing things forward by fusing organic and electronic in a way that innovates not recreates. Hear the tropical funk of Nickodemus, or the psychedelic dusty beats of Ocote Soul Sounds, the spy film and near eastern polyrhythms of Thunderball, or the Latin soul of Federico Aubele and Natalia Clavier. Dig into the cinematic sounds of Ancient Astronauts or Kabanjak, the cracking breakbeats of Chris Joss or the electro go-go of Ursula 1000. ESL Music continues to scan the musical spectrum for the world’s finest.

The Ancient Astronauts are based out of Germany and are on a US tour supporting their new album, “Into Bass and Time.” Their sophomore album sees the Astronauts take their vintage-meets-future block party aesthetic and blast off to new frontiers. The Astronauts are not alone in their journey however, as they bring along a solid crew of MCs, vocalists, and turntablists for the intergalactic ride. Akua Naru and Phat Old Mamas lend a haunting feminine edge to “Last Night” and “Bitter Hypnotic,” while MC’s Azeem and Raashan Ahmad drop sonic bombs on fire-starters “The Shining” and “Don’t Stop.” From hard driving hip-hop, to funky breakbeat, to righteous dancehall reggae, to late night smokers’ trip-hop, Into Bass and Time is a sonic rocket ship ride not to be missed! The album is currently available at www.eslmusic.com and retailers everywhere.

SF’s favorite weekly party and DJ/musician collective, Afrolicious run by real life brothers Pleasuremaker and Señor Oz will be involved with the ESL Music West Coast events. Pleasuremaker is also an A&R man for ESL Music.

J-Boogie- San Francisco’s own DJ/Producer on Om Records, Ubiquity, Future Primitive and more. Always a proper mix of downtempo, hip-hop, reggae, soul, afrobeat, latin, disco, house, electro, bhangra, and broken beats. Sunset/Pacific Sound with DJ’s Solar, Galen and J-Bird holding down the OddJob room with a blend of deep house and techno. They are SF’s favorite house music crew and known for their legendary parties since 1994.
