LA GENTE return to our favorite Mission district venue ELBO ROOM for another Reggae, Cumbia, Hip-Hop, Rock, Salsa Dance party!!!

After out last epic Dia De los Muertos event at Elbo, we are teaming up with the soulful, hyper-sensual grooves of Marcus Cohen & The Congress. A DJ and vocal set by Oakland's own Lady Ryan. And a special dance, vocal performance by the lovely and intoxicating Rasa Vitalia!

-LA GENTE-

La Gente is a Bay Area based international recording group led by singer-songwriter Rafael Bustamante Sarria. The group has created their own unique multilingual blend of Reggae, Cumbia, Hip-Hop, Salsa, Rock, and World Music. They perform a high energy dance party and have cultivated a large, loyal and diverse following. They have independently released three studio albums, numerous live recordings, two DVD's and are currently in production to release their fourth studio album collaborating with a variety of international recording artists.

La Gente was founded in 2002, since then They have performed numerous festivals, universities, radio stations, museums, art galleries and major venues all over the US. For example: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Austin, Portland and New York. La Gente has also performed internationally in Spain, Italy, France, Great Britian, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Nicaragua. Their notoriety and showmanship had found them sharing the stage with other recognized recording artists, such as George Clinton and The P-Funk All Stars, E-40, The Digital Underground, Hyro-Glyphics, Coolio, Digable Planets, Pato Banton, Lyrics Born, Rupa & The April Fishes, Meklit Hadero, Pete Escovedo, The B-side Players and MALO.

Marcus Cohen--trumpeter/composer based in San Francisco Ca. assembled The Congress nearly 2 years ago. They've been described as "A velvet freight train of passion". The music is powerful, hyper-sensual, seductive, yet sonically arresting. Its dripped in "soul", encased with sweet caramel melodies, tantalizing harmonies, and grooves as deep and rich as dark cacao. Destined to reintroduce depth in music, love, community, and the re-emergence of "soul music", Marcus Cohen & The Congress have been winning the hearts and ears of every listener. Upon her arrival, Lady Ryan connects instantaneously to her audience. Her music rides the crowd's nostalgia effortlessly weaving old songs with the new. Due to her charm and immeasurable talent, she has easily become a Bay Area favorite, DJing and singing at major LGBT events like SF and Oakland Pride since 2007 and many clubs in both cities. Currently, she holds residence in Oaklands' premiere club Parliament, along with The Legionnaire, The RockSteady, Jupiter in Berkeley and Lil Baobab in SanFrancisco. Lady Ryan is unique in that she is known for her eclectic taste in tunes and spellbinding voice. From Jazz to House, the flux of distinctive sounds she so graceful sets beside one another make for a brilliant movement within the crowd. Lady Ryan is determined to ignite a fire within the industry and continue to carve her name into its history.

-RASA VITALIA-

Rasa Vitalia is one San Francisco's most famous leading solo dance artists, vocalists, & music artists in the genres of Dance-Pop, EDM, World, Disco/Club, Funk, & Hip Hop. Rasa has over two decades of mastery and advanced study in multiple dance and music forms. Rasa is currently presenting her latest music releases "Be You" & "Make the Quake."Rasa also currently performing and touring with RonKat Spearman's Katdelic (PFunk).
