This epic lineup is ready to give Boulder a much-needed shake-up before finals hit !!

Ranging from hip-hop to funk, glitch and more, you’ll see common themes: over-the-top lighting and visuals, rumbling BASS and the biggest dance party to hit BOULDER in years !

MSTRKRFT is the project of Toronto musician Jesse F. Keeler and studio partner Al-P, two guys that’ll mix dance music with any other genre out there with precision and finesse. Their style could be described in a word: danceable. Sputnik Music writes, “Enter MSTRKRFT, a shit-hot addition to the global community of sonic warriors currently smashing down boundaries of house, hip-hop, grime, electro and all kinds of electronic experimentation.”

Pretty Lights Music family member and inspiration to Derek Vincent Smith, Slovenian producer Gramatik found a long time ago that blending hip-hop beats and vocals with live instrumentation was way more interesting to the eardrums than just computerized beats. His first album, Beatz & Pieces, Vol. 1, was released last July and he’s been nominated for “Best Chill Out Artist” and “Best Chill Out Track” at the 2010 Beatport Music Awards.

Detroit’s own GRiZ is a producer who takes the top in hip hop and rock to make his own remixes that fall into an uncategorized clash of genres, from funk to glitch. Ethan Baer from SubSynthesis.com has said, “A tremendously passionate and soulful producer, GriZ has a peerless knack for creating profoundly engaging melodies to offset the presence of his phenomenally designed bass.”

Zion I are well-known for their collaborations with Living Legends, The Grouch, Eligh, Blackalicious, and more. The hip hop duo consists of exploding producer DJ Amp Live and MC Zumbi, and their usage of live instrumentation and samples stretches all the way back to the late 90s. With fluid raps and a unique style of mixing, Zion I has been known to “get it hotter than a dance horchata,” making them a favorite among hip hop enthusiasts.

Robotic Pirate Monkey is a three-piece home-grown favorite that has splashed onto some of the larger stages in the area and are blowing up amongst not only the Boulder crowd but nationwide! CU students may remember the trio from their opening spot for Big Gigantic on Farrand Field for the annual New Student Welcome Festival.
