Electro-soul trio Wax Future first popped up on our radar this spring with their submission to The Untz Challenge, which really caught our attention. Future funkateers Connor Hansell, Keith Wadsworth, and Gralin Hughes blend live production techniques with daring glitch and soulful samples along with eye-popping visuals for a multi-dimensional experience fans up and down the east coast have gotten to enjoy this summer.

Funkadelphia will be releasing the trio's sophomore EP, Keep the Memories on August 28th. Today, we premiere the lead single from the EP, "New Funk City," which has that sound that grabs us right from the jump. The trio's nod to Mario Van Peebles' New Jack City and the New Jack Swing movement of the early 90's seems to intone that future funk has the power to sweep the nation. With GRiZ selling out Red Rocks with his All Good chums, we certainly get the message loud and clear.

The Philly trio skillfully blends vintage sounds that blow the sonic dust off of top-notch audio treasure, while making sure that its production is airtight. For hip-swinging, knee-breakin', face-scrunching funk, look no further than this lead-off single. This EP is going to propel Wax Future to new heights. Catch the threesome in its hometown of Philadelphia this weekend, August 22nd at One Art Community Center alongside Agent Zero and more, brought to you by the fine folks at We:Present.
