Super Best Records’ newest addition to the family, JK Soul, brings us a new electro-soul banger “A Bright Light In The Sky” from his forthcoming album When There is No Sun. Bright brass lines, groovy synths and hard-hitting drums wash over us as JK executes what he does best. Blending hip-hop, raw emotion plucked straight from soul samples, and jaw dropping bass lines, JK Soul shows us why he’s is a force to be reckoned with.

Throwing proper homage to Super Best Records co-founder Michal Menert, this classy funked out fusion is sure to be a classic. Blending ravaging bass with the delicate sounds of the past is no easy feat, but JK pulls off the contrast with ease.

Along with his breathtaking track, JK also released a music video full of political statements and social metaphors. The video features a young boy, playing with his toys in an empty room. His creativity shines, though his father, his teacher, and the government all intervene – stunting his creative growth, putting his mind in a mold, teaching him to think inside the box. By the end of the video, paired with a soul shaking drop of mechanical and glitch-filled bass lines - the child breaks free of the social and political restraints and flourishes in the sweet nostalgia of toy soldiers and LEGO bricks. A strong message for everyone: Don’t let society influence your personal intuition.

JK Soul’s initiation to Super Best Records is definitely a highlight this year for electro-soul fans across the world.
