Whoa, nelly. This one is deep. Artist Scott Hansen out of San Francisco, better known as Tycho, put his own spin on Ulrich Schnauss's dark and brooding "I Take Comfort in Your Ignorance." The remix comes as part of an EP released on Domino in the States, and Schnauss' own imprint Scripted Realities throughout the rest of the world. The original is even darker and deeper, but Hansen adds some glittering synths into the mix, as well as a chugging guitar intro which jars you out of the preceding pad which washes in like a frothy white cap. Vibrant and mysterious, this new take on the tune is a shining example of what kind of electronica people outside the traditional dance music community are making. Wholly ignorant of fashion--or perhaps all too aware of it--here comes a delightful piece of electronic exploration that thrills and chills.
