About a month after Sherwyn Nicholls and his twin brother Kendrick started making beats, they were playing STS9 after parties and throwing in live drummer Colby Buckler. That's like driving from Maine to California an hour after getting your drivers license. The twins behind Two Fresh are turning 22 in a few days, and have been burning up the electronic and jam scene at festivals with their special blend of beats and bass for a couple of years now.
Today, Two Fresh releases their debut full-length on Elm & Oak and 1320 Records. Air Mail was worked out while the twins and Buckler toured the country spreading their sound, sending the beats back and forth and home to their base in Asheville, NC. Their collective, Labcoat, brings together artists from their home territory, many of whom are featured on the new album. Sherwyn Nicholls is featured on this, the one year anniversary of The Untz Podcast!
Next week, R/D will be featured on the program. He came up in the L.A. electronic scene of the late 90's, spinning with acts like Prefuse 73 and Squarepusher. After a while, he moved on to film scoring, but he jumped back into the glitch game, recently, inspired by his roomates edIT and Ooah, founding members of The Glitch Mob.
