Top 10 Ageless Summer JamsEditor's note:

The Untz is thrilled to launch a new series of artist and tastemaker curated lists in order to give some of our favorite producers, DJ's, and bands the opportunity to pay respect or shed light on other artists and songs that inspire the work they do. We believe very deeply that to truly understand an artist, you must dig into his or her crates and thumb through their CD's to get a sense of where they come from. Our absolute favorite artists are all standing on the shoulders of giants, to quote Newton, so this is an opportunity for our buddies in the industry to tip their hats to the influences that inspire them, as well as their homie with the dope track.

We kick things off by tapping Ageless to rattle off his Top 10 Summer Jams. Wesley Paioff is a veteran of the electro-soul, downtempo hip-hop, and electro-funk scene from the east coast. We can't think of a better candidate who knows his way around chill, poolside vibes. These summer jams are for sipping a fruity cocktail while the smoke whisps around your head on a balmy afternoon. While the season is slowing down, the temperatures are rising, and these hits are gonna keep you cool for the summer.

This Philos Records artist leads off this list with a premiere of his own, so let's dive right in...

10. Ageless - The First Time

I'm thrilled to premiere this brand new track with TheUntz.com! "The First Time" is a collage-style beat where I grabbed samples from a bunch of different songs spanning over 40 years. Classic soul and old school hip-hop meets future-funk production. This track will be on my upcoming EP. Thanks for the support!

9. GRiZ - Summer '97 ft Muzzy Bearr

It might seem like an obvious choice, considering that it's widely popular and the word 'summer' is right there in the title, but there's good reason for both of those facts. The future funk mastermind steps away from his core sound to take us back to the days of boom bap and sample chopping, all while adding a bit of live instrumentation with the help of All Good Records artist Muzzy Bearr.

8. Derlee. - Kickin' It

The newest addition to the Philos Records roster, Derlee. takes a classic hip-hop approach to his production by tightly chopping up samples and rocking drum pads. This track is as smooth as it is grimy, just an all around dope summer vibe. Grab his album Off The Beat'n Path for more soulful gems.
