Who doesn't like a good remix?

You show up late to the show. Your dumb ass didn't buy an advance ticket to the show, so you're freezing that same dumb ass off in the line that wraps around the building, sweatin' in out hoping it's not sold out. You show your ID six times, and finally you're in. Your friends aren't answering texts, calls, or pokes on Facebook, so you don't know where they are, and you're just awash in the crowd with nothing but that pricey $15 Bud Light in your sweaty hand.

Then your jam comes on. But wait--it's different. It's funkier. It's fresher. It's got a new spin and a new attitude. Suddenly you're spilling that domestic draft on everyone in a six-foot radius, because you're absolutely losing your shit to this remix that at once culls this deep, nostalgic response in your body, but also has a brand new boogie woogie you can't believe.

That's what this list is all about. Classic or new, trappy or funky, these are our favorite remixes of the year, as selected with help from our fans, that take on songs from your parent's collection, or fresh flips from friends handpicked by some of today's biggest acts. We throw genres out the window and celebrate the best remixes that made us lose our shit this year.

10. Spooky Black - Without You (Great Dane Bootleg)

The ten-foot tall Great Dane towers over the minimal aesthetics of the original, adding pizzazz and verve the source material was missing. This is a damn sexy re-rub, and it puts us right in the mood.

9. Mayer Hawthorne - Crime (DYNOHUNTER Remix)

Smooth as silk, DYNOHUNTER tried something, and it paid off. This housey remix is way outside the livetronica trio's wheelhouse, and it comes together like buttah. Next level from the Boulder boys.

8. Lotus - Out Of Focus (KiloWatts Bifocal Remix)

Chill breaks from the master, himself, Jamie Watts put a deligthful spin on the livetronica legends Lotus. The KiloWatts remix is luxurious with its deep house elements broken over pulsing bass with delight.
