This is as close as you're going to get to Toadface club music.
Todd Holler is becoming more and more widely known for his wildly inventive brand of bass music, due in no small part to a massive national tour this fall with Yheti and DMVU. But when Corey McCarley got him to remix one of his new tracks, we heard a totally different side of the rising star.
The Toadface remix of “Alaea,” which comes out as part of PartyWave's new Indian Summer EP on ShadowTrix Music tomorrow (November 7), has a decidedly down and dirty, late night, sweaty shindig vibe. While you can't prevent Holler from throwing all sorts of experimental flavors into the middle of this track, spraying his maniacal wubs around like silly string, there is definitely a real seductive sound penetrating the whimsical sonic aesthetic Toadface has developed.
You can continue to catch both Toadface and PartyWave around the country through the end of the year. In the meantime, the Indian Summer EP will be on endless repeat.
