The Untz Festival 2017Fresh Toadface will make any Tuesday bearable. Bass music enfant terriblé Todd Holler has been shocking fans and building an army from his midwest home base, and luckily for us, has been swooped up by our partners at ThazDope Records to anchor their stage at The Untz Festival this summer. Croaking his way through the underground scene, he has amassed an army (The Toad Faith), and found fans amongst some of the brightest beacons in the scene (his latest remix made its way onto Yunis' Saturate Records EP).

A proud Ohioan, Holler contributed his latest original, “Last Metroid,” to upstart Batik Records, who just yesterday unveiled The Ohio Compilation, a pretty self-explanatory assemblage of bass music Buckeyes all with a twist of ingenuity.

The mission statement of Batik Records itself is pretty cool:

The textile art of batik uses wax and colored dyes to create intricate patterns by hand. Similarly, Batik Records focuses on intricate musical patterns to provide lush listener experiences through progressive bass music. Here, organic meets robotic in a musical selection curated to showcase established artists and promote talented new faces.

In line with Toadface's predilection for anime and video games, the Nintendo series centered around bounty hunter Samus Aran and the nebula creatures known as metroids provides endless inspiration, as this minimal wobbly number urges us to press forward in the compilation. There are several hidden gems on the compilation, including one from Alex Vu, who will also be hitting our festival as Vusive on the ThazDope stage June 2-4 in Mariposa, California. These young guns are the reason tickets are flying, and the very same reason you should get your act together and jump on them passes before they're blasted into oblivious by Space Pirates: www.theuntzfestival.com.
