What do you yell when you walk into your friend's well-appointed apartment in London? Superflat! Bad pun, I know. But I get a little flustered when I find out there's a new track from The M Machine making the rounds.
My palms get sweaty, butterflies flood my tummy, and expectations run high. Which can be dangerous, of course, but Ben Swardlick, Eric Luttrell, and Andy Coenen have never really let me down. Not even close. As is the expectation, nothing you've ever heard before sounds like "Superflat." It's a completely unique take on electro with gorgeous vocal layers and an insidious melody. Their reworking of "Faces," and of course the remix of Mat Zo's "Lucid Dreams" are outlining this remarkable trajectory for the trio.
These guys are on an unimaginable roll, and even though they just released a bunch of new material, I'm already counting down the seconds to the next studio release.
The brand new cut coincides with a slew of headlining dates across the country. Tour kicks off tomorrow in DC, you lucky dogs.
