One of the greatest components of today’s current bass culture is the ability to revive classic songs from some of the greatest artists of previous generations, and create something fresh and fitting for our time. In the last few months we have featured remixes of “Don’t Let Me Down” by Gramatik
, “Black Dog” by Teriszega, and now today we have a bouncy remix of a classic Grateful Dead tune.
“Shakedown Street” gets the remix treatment from Kansas based duo The Floozies
, who toss the salad of the original track but this time add a fresh batch of funky, and a slew of rambunctious to spice it all up. The song is filled to the brim with effervescent dub lines that fit perfectly with Jerry Garcia’s original vocals, and combine to create an energetic switch up that will quickly get caught in any listener’s head from the first time they hear it. 1978 meets 2012, and for that reason we can’t get enough.
