This week, we are pleased to premier the latest and greatest from our good friends The Funk Hunters. We have all come to know acclaimed American lyricist Chali 2na for his contributions to monumental groups like Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli. Most recently he has partnered up with Westwood Recordings to create a brand new remix EP featuring tunes from Manphibian.

Our favorite Canadian duo Nick Middleton and Duncan Smith of The Funk Hunters give us their take on “Guns Up” which originally features staggering support from Damian and Stephen Marley. Talk about reggae royalty.

Straying from a more familiar style, The Funk Hunters give this track a Jungle DNB flip which plays off the slick, dubbed out vibes of the original and gives it some serious fire. The vocals are well preserved and seem to reform perfectly into the double time drums and rolling subs. This is one track from the remix EP that will definitely make the rounds this summer.

The Funk Hunter’s are going to be on a serious kick this year. You can expect to see so much more as we move closer to summer. Make sure you stay keen to new shows near you and don’t dare miss a chance to see them at your favorite festival this summer.
