Released in mid March, this is a preview of a forthcoming release from legendary UK drum and bass DJ Nick Douwma, better known as Sub Focus. Paired with the vocals of Alex Clare, although only a preview, “Endorphins” seems to be a successful attempt at producing a lighter brand of music than fans of Sub Focus have come to know.
The track starts with a slow drumbeat, mixed with some airy effects that steadily increases in intensity. Leading to a snare storm of a buildup, “Endorphins” is definitely a new direction for Sub Focus, but I found myself pressing play over and over again. Yes it’s different, but one listen to the drop about halfway through the preview will reassure any fans that Sub Focus knows what he is doing. The vocals provided by Alex Clare fit perfectly with the track, and fans are growing impatient. Slated for a full release May 13th on Mercury Records, keep one ear on Sub Focus. If this is any indication of what’s to come, you can expect big things.
