Legendary livetronica quintet Sound Tribe Sector 9 blazed through its annual two-night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO this past weekend (September 11 and 12). Thought it's hard to tell if Friday was at capacity, Saturday was definitely sold out and the weather could not have been more perfect.

I met a fan who flew from CA to see them, who also hit the Boulder Theater show on Thursday which preceded the 2-night run at Red Rocks. She said it would be her 9th time seeing the band. For many, they were into their 20's, 30's, and even 50th shows! Guitarist Hunter Brown, keyboard player David Phipps, drummer Zach Velmer, percussionist Jeffree Lerner, and bassist Alana Rocklin (in her second Red Rocks run since joining the band early last year) appeared to be loving every minute of it.

While it was only my third STS9 experience, I am consistenly floored by the tightness and technical proficiency of the band. But as a photographer, I am always mesmerized by their light show. I watched their lighting guy, Saxton Waller, dance along to the music, while smoking, and timing everything with perfection.

People danced non-stop but the jam-packed crowds had raucous reactions to fan-favorites like "Breathe In", "Golden Gate", and "Light the Way."
