Repping Atlanta and Denver, the Modern Measure duo of Kyle Holly and Charlie Thornton have roots planted in livetronica hotspots. Fellow artists with whom the duo has aligned itself over the past twelve months, along with the band's label (STS9's 1320 Records), put the pair in great standing with the release of its latest studio effort, Assimilation.

Fusing elements of downtempo, glitch, dubstep, and hip-hop, the album runs the gamut of moods with dark, brooding fugues, and straight ahead bangers. The Untz premiered "Through The Trees" earlier this month, featuring Zoogma's Justin Hasting on guitar, which soars with guitar-driven power.

Moodier pieces like "Still Dreaming" and "Night on the Moon" set the stage for more playful tracks like "Power Play." The title track layers lush instrumentations into a thick soundscape of dense melodies and counterpoints. This is easily the biggest undertaking the young outfit has embarked upon, and they demonstrate their abilities to give fans a number of different looks.

The duo has upcoming dates with Cosby Sweater, then goes on to support Big Gigantic and Manic Focus, and then wraps up the month of October by hitting home base Atlanta, GA with The New Deal and Conspirator on October 31st. Talk about livetronica heaven (sorry, livetronica hell in keeping with the Halloween theme). That's some damn fine company.
