For a number of dubstep and bass music producers, the allure of electro and it's rowdy cousin complextro are too much to resist--with mixed results. While some have the knack for the four-on-the-floor kick and blaring fuzz blasts, others end up turning out derivative dribble not worthy of the dance floor. When Max Hype decided to jump in the game, he went for it. "Circuit Break," the new one from ProtoHype
, channels the insatiable pop qualities of Porter Robinson
, without sacrificing Hype's signature edge. Coming off the release of his Space Ranger
EP, which included rager "Break It Down" and a particularly nasty remix of said track by buddy KhemehK, the dubstep guru has taken quite a chance, and in our view, scored. "Circuit Break," is fun, fresh, and inventive. We'll see if this is the start of something new, or just a delightful foray for shits and giggles.
