I'm beginning to think D'Angelo returned to the game just to defend his neo-soul crown from Exmag. The Brooklyn-based power squad of pure sex joined forces with uber-producer Russ Liquid on a stunning couplet of bedroom tunes. The funky alliance today share The Tillamook Sessions, named presumably for the sleepy hamlet by the Pacific in upstate Oregon.
Our premiere, "VHS," is a come here, come hither sweaty mess of strutting synths and palm-muted cat calls. Forged as a joint production between the two acts, the combo of Liquid and Exmag is undeniably potent, urging fans to get it on in the worst way with vintage sounds, and futuristic sensibilities. The syrupy sounds of Exmag and Russ Liquid blend beautifully in this true collaboration. Bottom line, this song'll get yo girl pregnant.
Exmag today alights on its Colorado run, hitting Durango, Avon, Boulder, Ft Collins, and Steamboat Springs on a little Valentine's tour of the rockiest state. They'll be joined by GiBBZ, Marvel Years, Branx, and Kinetik Groove as they wind their way through CO. After an April run with GRiZ, the band will return to the mountains for a festive June 5 throwdown at Red Rocks with Lettuce. It's gonna be a big year for the boys, click here for their tour dates.
Coincidentally, Russ Liquid is in Denver, CO tonight with Thriftworks at Cervantes--you can find all his tour dates here.
