By: Natty Morrison

Hello readers. First, let me apologize for the lapse in my picks. I’ve been tied up at my summer job. I can’t say where, but I can tell you it’s a place for summer time treat, a sort of royalty, and also it’s Dairy Queen. Oh shit.

1. “Fortune Days” - Dubzilla (Remix of The Glitch Mob)

You may remember Dubzilla as the winner of NiT GRiT’s “Babylon” remix competition. This time he’s returned with an angry-faced remix of a tune by crunkstep heavy-hitters The Glitch Mob. With a well-placed Godfather vocal sample, this cut ought to fill you up more than a cliché journalist referencing the most over-referenced movie of all time. Speaking of which, have you seen my Brando impression? Here, let me show you…

2. “Inspector Gadget” - Liquid Stranger

This one took me back to a time as a young child before The Untz or dubstep or the Natty rage face (it looks ridiculous). Back as a little dude, I had no idea that this hilarious cartoon (Yes. Hilarious) would one day be a source of fodder for teeth rattling bass music. Well, no one can predict the future. So this one goes out to you lil Natty. Ah shit, he just pooped his pants.

3. “iLL Type Moves” - GRiZ

In case you haven’t already heard this rapidly circulating cut from GRiZ, you’re welcome. I featured him on my preview of The Blastoff Festival, but my gawd. I had no idea. This slick, electro’d out bass track covers so many different areas it’s tough to know where to begin explaining it. You know what? Forget it. Just listen. And right around, oh I don’t know, 3:58…3:59? Be ready.

4. “Dr. Thunder Nose” - Laser Sex

One thing I love about Laser Sex is their cinematic qualities. They’re able to really capture a soundtrack feel in their cuts, as though they’re scoring your life. In this one, I feel like I’m in some sort of seedy 1980s TV cop show, except all I can picture is me sliding across the hoods of cars everywhere I go. I think that’s like my “thing.” “Roofslider” or something. I don’t know, my imagination needs work. But these guys don’t, it’s pure electro gold. “Hi I’m Tom. Tom Carjumper.” No, that sounds like I’m a mechanic, or like a really good Samaritan.

5. “Sandwiches” - Tyler, the Creator

This might seem a little weird. This is not an electronic track, but I have a strange request. On the off-chance that there are any amateur or professional DJs in my readership, I desperately, despereately want a remix of this song. So here’s the rub: send me your remixes of this tune, and I’ll personally listen to each one and likely feature it right here, on Natty’s Picks of the Week. The only catch is I have no stems or high quality download link. I just, kind of want to hear it. Please?

(Find the original song on Tyler, the Creator’s sophomore record, “Goblin.” Send any submissions to natty@theuntz.com Preferably through Soundcloud!)
