Hello, hello. It’s time for another installment of Natty’s Picks of the Week. I’m finally done with finals, and I figured I’d kick off the summer season with a few jokes about hot dogs, beans, and homelessness. Enjoy! I’m a terrible person!

1. “Beans For Pauly” - Blunt Instrument

If I’ve learned one thing from cartoons and television, it’s that hobos love beans. Especially two of them trying to split a bean in half. That’s always so hilarious. And while they might love beans, everyone can appreciate this slow-simmering cut 100 BPM cut, with a deliciously slow wobble that will have your neck muscles snapping into place. Ha ha ha, poverty is so hilarious.

2. “Just Don’t” - ill-mannered

It’s not often you can pinpoint the exact moment you became infatuated with an artist, but for me it was the instant I hit play on these talented cats track. Crisp breakbeats, huge bass hits and swirls of disco-esque melody lines make this one a total keeper. Uh, a little to the left, guys…you’re blowing up my radar screen.

3. “Make A Wish” - Larva Ink

It’s been a few months since I’ve heard from this group out of Denver, but what a (re)introduction this is. Amazing sound quality, perfect synth, gorgeous vocals and breezy songcraft highlight this up-tempo tune. Makes me want to hit an ocean liner cruise and eat all the free hot dogs. Huh? What do you mean there’s no free hot dogs? I WANT MY FREE HOT DOGS!!!

4. “Arecibo” - Neff and Kenney

I’m a proponent of boundary pushing music. It’s important to test, bend, stretch and break the frames of music genre, so you can keep expanding the possibilities for the question, “What is music?” Hailing from Massachusetts, this North East duo create incredible and unmatchable soundscapes. But this is no new age shit, this is pure future exploration.

5. “Bliss Stains (Demo from Live PA)” - MT Nasty

Another banger from the heaviest of heavies, MT Nasty. He may not be as well known as other DJs, but I’ve witnessed firsthand the force this guy brings. Someone make him famous already.
