1.       “Aftermath” - Nightmares on Wax (666 Gangstaz Remix)

This remix of the Nightmares on Wax breakthrough track starts with a slow stutter, as the San Francisco DJ drags the heavenly female vocals through the muds of the underworld. Pausing only to catch his breath, the remix suddenly opens up into a subtle electro, downtempo reimagining of the original cut. This is the stuff dream remixes are made of.

2.       “Dovregubben” - Zedd
German electro-master Zedd takes the always-welcomed melody to “In the Hall of the Mountain King” and turns it into a total, synthed-out throwdown. Feels kind of like you’re sneaking through a medieval castle, if that castle happened to be a house party DJ’d by Daft Punk and Deadmau5.

3.       “Pornstep” - Metabolic
WARNING: This is absolutely, positively the heaviest dubstep I have ever heard. In fact, this is probably less dubstep, and more of an exercise in the limitations of bass. As one of my friends put it, “It feels like my ears were raped by SkyNet.” Maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

4.       “The Wolf In You” - Turnbull Green
I posted this cut a few weeks back, but now that the official video has been released, I thought I’d share Mr. Green’s wonderfully odd visual addition. Hey! Kittens! Kittehzs! (insert more “I can haz cheezburger” speak here)

5.       “Echoes (Remix)” - Leroc Sportif

Sportif takes the quintessential Pink Floyd track and turns it into a funky dance party. Of course, that’s not to say he’s bastardized the psychedelic masterpiece; he just knows how to tweak it. Gilmour’s guitar is still wailing, but Leroc calms it down, dresses it up in a leisure suit and takes it for a strut on the town.
