Techno and trap are the names of the game with the second phase lineup of Movement Electronic Music Festival, which will return to Detroit's Hart Plaza Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-26. The legendary festival, promoted by Paxahau, has set the gold standard for electronic music festivals, holding the crown as one of the longest-running EDM events in the country.
With its emphasis on Detroit techno and fixtures of the scene getting their fair shake, the Phase 2 lineup honors Marco Carola, Boys Noize, Maceo Plex, and seminal figure Kevin Saunderson, presenting his Origin showcase, which will highlight the present, past, and future of techno.
Trap encroaches even further on this year's lineup with a star-studded assemblage of DJ Snake, RiFF RaFF, Flosstradamus, Baauer, and Just Blaze.
Interestingly, Bonobo and Jamie xx will be making their Movement debut in May. The two UK figures hold sway over the indie electronic scene, albeit at opposite ends of the spectrum. Claude VonStroke and icon John Digweed will be making their returns to the festival, which prides itself on variety, as well as history. They join Phase 1 artists Carl Cox, Simian Mobile Disco, Miguel Migs, Justin Martin, Pete Tong, and Richie Hawtin, among others.
